Took this photo on North King Street just near Smithfield, almost forgot.

President Michael D. Higgins to visit NCAD
Just completed a project with Bord Bia, and it was great that our new president Michael D. Higgins who was visiting NCAD at the time took the time to congratulate the students Mary and Kathi. A very successful project and well done to all the students involved.

Meet Sammy
This is Sammy, owned by a very nice gentleman called Michael Larkin. Sammy and Micheal attend many worthwhile protests and marches in Dublin. I saw Sammy and Michael last Saturday at the protest against the austerely measures the Irish government at the bequest of our new masters in the so called EU are forcing upon the normal people of each and every country. It was a pleasure meeting Sammy and Michael today.

Fight Back, Dublin protest march
The sparks such as the Occupy Dame Street, Dublin, and this march today, 15th October 2011, against the cuts and austerity measures that will the IMF and the EU, and the so called Irish government who should be looking after our interest not bowing to the banks and their 'friends' so we the public can pay back for the bad decisions of gamblers, banks and governments. It is time for all people to stand against these oppressors and our own government that are causing so much pain and for what, so the rich get richer on our backs. The time is now to stand up and fight back before it is too late.
Dublin Egyptian Protest
This was a protest in Dublin outside government buildings today, Saturday 15th October 2011, about how Christians are being killed in Egypt. Outrage is mounting in reaction to the killing of scores of Coptic Christians in Maspero last Sunday, with few convinced with the army's denial of involvement.

Book of the day
One of the many new titles by Professor Noel Blankhead, this book is a must around the house. We've all been told to reduce our carbon footprint now with Blankhead's "How to remove your carbon footprint" you can not just reduce but remove yours. Other excellent tip on clean around the house, includes an entire chapter dedicated to the uses of the fluff from your vacuum cleaner with examples for recycling them for many uses, such as, with the help of a little glue, a gentleman hair piece or how to create your own judges wig by bleaching, guaranteed to save any up an coming judge on expenses or for use at Holloween.

32 Pages Inside
Professor Noel Blankhead in this book looks at the pages in a book and how many pages there are. Discovering that many books have different number of pages and are even different sizes. This in-depth research into “never choose a book by its cover” (as this is true as in general in never says on the cover) and answers the question right on the cover as to how many pages are in a book. With this in mind the author has called this book “32 pages inside” and to confuse the reader there are 24, now that is real art (should be entered for a Turner prize) as the reader can make up the other pages themselves, that means it's real arty. The author has promised more research and an on-line version of the same book call “No pages inside” and will have no pages inside. This research calls for the re-examining of the term “web pages” after discovering no pages even when looking behind the computer.

Occupy Dame Street
This is a photo of the Occupy Dame Street Campaign, Dublin, Ireland. This is a sister to the Occupy Wall Street. It's much small than the New York one but it's great to see Irish people getting up and trying to make a difference. We as the people of Ireland have been beaten down by our politicians and their corrupt parties, the rich banks and top government bodies we have lost our voice but this is a start to regain our country from the banks that now hold the world to ransom for big profits.

Banners for NCAD identity project
These are a set of 6 banners to inform staff and students throughout the college that the identity of NCAD was being looked at. The banners where placed in different locations around the college and the banners where swopped at each location each week.
I did these back in late 2008 or early 2009, so long ago I've forgotten, you can see the first is a homage to my favourite designer Alvin Lustic. I did them all over a day and a half period.

Poster for student fundraiser "Purity'

This is an A2 poster which I designed and photographed for a student fundraiser towards the printing of a yearbook for the 2011 graduating Visual communication students. I wanted to create a poster that was loaded with symbolism yet very evocative. All degree students and staff within the department produced a poster and a limited edition of each are to be sold.
The caption on the images reads:
pu•ri•ty noun
1 freedom from immorality, esp. of a sexual nature : white is meant to represent purity and innocence 2 shown is the celtic symbol for purity 3 the Masons wore as a lambskin apron as a “badge of innocence and purity”.

What happens when the publisher changes things!

This is what the published cover ended up looking like after the publisher 'House' style it!
And below is one of my design that was used as the basis, strange thing is I'm credited for the above design, even though it's really a version of my design!
The original photo was supplied by Tony as a very small contact print which I scanned and photo enhanced, removing some hand written text for this cover image. This was then supplied to ARC.
They also re-set the entire inside of the book, even though Tony and myself had spent a long time getting the typesetting perfect, what can one do?

And below is the cover that Tony wanted but they went with a copy of an early design I had done.
The Well in the Rain

The Well in the Rain by Tony Curtis, this cover I designed back in 2006.
It is available from Arc Publications both in hardback and soft back.
It's also my photo taken near Balbriggan, where Tony lives.

The Book of Winter Cures

Cover design, cover and inside, done in 2002 for my friend Tony Curtis.
This limited editions was only available for the Australian market.
Now a collectors item.
